Gina Rodriguez

Gina is the youngest of three daughters born to Puerto Rican parents. At the young age of seven, she started performing with the salsa dance company, “Fantasia Juvenil” and went on to perform with other companies traveling around the country.

When she was 16, Gina was one of thirteen teens accepted in a very exclusive theater program at Columbia University, where she started her acting career. Gina continued her love for theatre and studied at NYU’s Tish School of the Arts.

Gina is a versatile accomplished actor who has worked in theatre, film, and television. She is the star of the critically acclaimed new CW show “Jane the Virgin” and also known for her role as Majo in the musical drama film “Filly Brown” and as Beverly in the soap opera “TheBold and the Beautiful”.

Gina has received several awards and recognitions: Imagen Award 2012, THR's 35 Hottest Young Latinos in Entertainment 2012, and in July 2014 Variety Latino named her “Rising Star of the Year”.

Gina is a supporter of “Inspira”, an organization that works to spotlight Latino leaders who shape their communities. She also works with the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts and the Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative.

Fun Fact: Gina’s older sisters are accomplished; one is a doctor and the other is an investment banker.
